2008 Black History Weekend Scheduled

SEARCY, ARKANSAS - The White County Black History Awareness Coalition, Inc. is pleased to announce that it will have its annual Black History Celebration during the weekend of February 22 - 24. The theme for the weekend is "Achieving is Believing.
On Friday, February 22, the weekend will begin with an Opening Reception at the John E. Lightle Center in Searcy, Arkansas at 7:00 p. m. The guest speaker will be Judge Wendell Griffen.
A busy Saturday will commence with a parade through downtown Searcy beginning at 11:00 a.m. The lineup will be in the College Church of Christ at 10:00 a. m. The parade will start at Race and Hussey streets, wind through downtown and around City Hall and on to Spring Park. The Grand Marshall will be Mr. William Cowan of Kensett, Arkansas.
A fellowship at Yancey Hall will immediately follow the parade.
The Coalition is proud to announce that it will also participate in promoting an art exhibit for Aj and Marjorie Williams-Smith in the Searcy Art Gallery from 4:00 p. m. to 5:30 p. m. on Saturday. The weekend will culminate with a choir concert featuring the White County Federated Choir at 6:00 p. m. on Sunday afternoon at First United Methodist Church.
